Overview
Kathmandu Durbar Square was once the place where the city-state king was crowned . Today, this square is still the center of the old city and a glorious world cultural heritage of Kathmandu. The square preserves the 16th ~19th century monuments of Nepal. There are many temples and palaces.
Pashupatinath Temple built in 1696, this tower-style temple is one of the largest Hindu temples in Nepal and one of the four temples dedicated to Shiva in South Asia and is listed on the World Heritage List. This is a great place to experience Hindu culture & religion
Swayambhunath Stupa is an ancient Buddhist temple and is listed as a UNSECO World Heritage Site. Because there are many monkeys here & also called “monkey temples”. When you come to the Monkey Temple, you will see the golden stupa in the center. Although it is smaller than the Bodha Big Stupa, which looks similar to it, it stands out on the top of the hill.
The National Museum of Nepal is located not far from the south of Swayambhuna Temple. It houses a historical pavilion and a Buddhist pavilion. It is a good place to learn about Nepalese history and culture and appreciate Buddhist art.
