Also known as the “Monkey Temple” among visitors from abroad, Swoyambhunath sits atop its hill, overlooking most parts of the valley. After a short straight ascend you will be rewarded with a wide panorama views. Swoyambhu consisting of two words “swoyam-self” and “bhu- existence” so means ‘self-existence one’. According to translations from an inscription dating back to 460 A.D., it was built by King Manadeva and by the 13th century, Swoyambhunath had developed into an important center of Buddhism. And there is Bouddhanath equivalently famous as Swoyambhunath.
Lumbini located in state no. 5 Rupandehi district is the birthplace of Gautam Buddha (Siddharta Gautam). It is also a scared place for Buddhist pilgrims as well as a famous tourist destination in Nepal. It is also enlisted in World Heritage sites from 1997. It has been a center hub for pilgrims who follow the path or principles of Gautam Buddha. Each year many tourists as well as followers of Buddha come to Lumbini. The most noted temple in premises is the Maya Devi Temple. It stands as a major attraction in Lumbini. There are stupas which are built by other countries. Other attractions include Ashoka Pillar, Myanmar Golden Temple, World Peace Pagoda, Dharma swami Maharaja Buddha Bihar, China temple, Lumbini Museum. Lumbini is filled with the Buddhism spirituality and is of great important place in Nepal.
